Spring 2011 RTW: Jil Sander

7 Feb

This was one of the simplest, most elegant shows I have seen in awhile. The majority of the show was comprised of plain white t’s paired with long, draping skirts in a very chic yet simple dress. This innovative idea could have gone so awry in the hands of a less competent designer. Raf Simons is not a less competent designer. The show began with five variations on the first dress — a plain white t always on the top with variations in color for the ballgown skirt. This show redefined minimalism for years to come, bringing a new elegance and chic to the word. From the instant the collection was available, it’s been seen all over the red carpet.
