Best of the Spring/Summer 2011 Runway

9 Feb

With fashion week looming, instead of merely eagerly awaiting the arrival tomorrow I decided to compile a best of the best of the most recent runway! For every season for the past few years I have compiled my favorite looks from each show. I combed these folders and picked the best of the best — which took more time and was more looks than I anticipated! But here they are, enjoy!

The J. Mendel show I personally thought was stunning — almost every piece made it into my folders. They were so feminine in every shape and form and so beautiful. I loved these two looks especially because they seemed to combine the entire runway in two looks: the first encompasses the maxi gowns that were long and graceful while still very simple, the mini dress is one from many different styles that is of the same material and draping style but with different cuts.

This Etro look shows the trend of prints that is all the rage for the coming spring. The bold shorts with a heavy print and a less intense, embellished flowing top.

From the Louis Vuitton show, obviously the fringed v-neck everyone is modeling in Editorials and on the redcarpet is the winner. I loved this Giraffe look though, it is hilarious and still fashionable. For that reason I selected it as best of the best.

Marc Jacobs outdid himself with this show. The seventies glam was just beautiful and everywhere. This was my favorite look, it has all of the pieces of the show: the leather bow as a belt (which I prefer to the hair bow or shoulder one), the long flowing skirts and a look complete with intense, bold color.

I thought the Cushnie et Ochs dress was just pure glam. If someone would wear this on the red carpet I would be thrilled, although I don’t see it happening. It’s great with the gold sequin embellishing which is so on trend right now with the sheer cape-like piece of fabric adding a little extra something to the look.
