Fall 2011 RTW: Jill Stuart

12 Feb

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I adored this show. Stuart’s inspiration from woodland fairy tales manifested itself literally in the prints of animals on some of the dresses. At first these pieces seemed out of place and absurd but they grew on me and in the end became some of my favorite looks! Like the Miu Miu Spring collection, it’s the absurdity that makes them so great. The rest of the show was more traditional with the edgy-street style spin on it: ¬†oversized jackets and bold colors, fur vests (a trend that I am so happy is continuing another season), and intense minis. It is always important to note the shoes on the runway, and Stuart’s little cowboy booties are fabulous. The built in scarf-like piece on the look with the red pants is phenomenal and ingenious. A wonderful show.
