Fall 2011 RTW: Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti

12 Feb

I don’t think there’s any doubt in anyone’s mind as to the main theme to this show — mini dresses, pastels and beautiful jackets. When the look wasn’t a jacket, it was a mini with a jacket thrown over the arm. That may sound critical but I actually am quite fond of this show. I thought it was elegant and absolutely beautiful — albeit a little more spring than fall in my mind. WWD describes this collection as “60’s kitsch” — a term that I think accurately sums up the retro ideal behind the looks, although each definitely was infused with modern aspects like the structured skirts which are all over the runways these past few days. This was a very young collection but by no means less stylish and gorgeous. The youthful quality was definitely enforced by tights and take on platform mary-janes.
