Fall 2011 RTW: Donna Karan

14 Feb

Donna Karan’s been playing with the masculine/feminine idea for years — only this year it was right on par with the seasons trends. While this collection comprised of the same natural tones as the last, she added more grey’s and a few deeper colors than the Spring collection. These pieces all comprised of relatively little fabric and the intricacy and intensity of the looks came from the different way the fabric was folded on itself. The dresses were simply cut with the elegance — or “urban allure” as she deems it — coming from the way the fabric is folded near the bust to create a new kind of dress. Many of the simpler looks were paired with chiffon headscarves, which while unpractical were quite fun to see. The did outerwear absolutely DIVINELY — with rows of fur coats and simply yet beautifully cut jackets walking down the runway.
