Fall 2011 RTW: Monique Lhuillier

14 Feb

This was a dream collection for evening gown addicts like myself. I will give everyone who reads  my blog consistently $10 if one of these isn’t on the red carpet in a pretty immediate time period — yes, a little blackmail for ya. There were oodles of bow belts and ruffley-tiered skirts, embellishing and flowing material. It was a dream to see. The layering of the fabric and the colors were typical for Lhuillier’s style, but this collection did not feel as if it were working with old ideas. The first stream of looks were mainly black — posing a problem for the photographs and dimly lit setting. I have come to terms with it though, if you enlarge them you pretty much get the picture — there’s sheer, ostrich feather, lace, embellishing…all the standards of a Lhuillier collection.

Also — is that black with gold embellishment gown made for Blake Lively or what (third row, first)?
