Fall 2011 RTW: The Row

14 Feb

Inspiration from: “‘The Triplets of Belleville’ meet ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox,’”adequately describe this collection. Despite all of the cynicism surrounding the child stars’ design potential — The Row is becoming a staple in fashion. Their idea was not to create couture, evening gowns but to create wardrobe staples to help one build a sophisticated, elegant wardrobe. This is exactly what they do — although I’d say they have accomplished more than just the basics. The fur hats only add to the ideal of the designs — this is a collection for a sophisticate, one who is devoted to fashion and can make these simple pieces live up to their potential. I love their simpler pieces because it is so easy to see how well made and designed they are. I think they are definitely a duo to keep your eyes on — in a few more seasons, after all of the kinks are worked out they will be a fashion week staple. There’s no doubt in my mind.
