Fall 2011 RTW: Chado Ralph Rucci

15 Feb

I expected this show to be intense and serious as Rucci generally falls towards during the colder season. The show started off with a blast of red — shock and awe ladies. This was glam red too — a coat of double faced wool or Mongolian lamb? Pleated skirts or flowing ones? The show shifted to the less surprising neutrals, displaying the beautiful cuts and skill of Ralph Rucci much better than the red designs could (only because of the sheer intensity of them, not from any lesser quality). There was a series of very dramatic looks — the black Jackson Pollack on the all white short, bell sleeved gown and the structured skirt with layers of color under the base of black. Then there was a fade back to the red and ended on a very fun, very flapper-style look — the red sequined top over the simple red skirt with sheer red gloves = seductive and amazing.
