Fall 2011 RTW: Hervé Léger by Max Azria

15 Feb

Maybe I’m totally nuts — but I think that it’s much more impressive for a designer, who is restricted by a very limited aesthetic of a company, to not only keep collections interesting but also keep them on trend and current. That’s what happened to an unusual extent with this fall collection — again, at least to me. I know that there are many who are highly critical of the Léger line. The bandage dresses that made bandage dresses what they are today — they were taken up a notch in this collection. The spring collection made use of the cut out trend with the collars and neckline — for the Fall it goes to the next step, stitching over cutouts from the midriff. A really cool idea and done very tastefully. Also, with the last look there were slices of skin throughout the dress and embellishing, a very cool look if you ask me. And lastly, I just loved the way the show started off: a bandage dress under a cardigan. What is more street chic than that?
