Fall 2011 RTW: Reed Krakoff

16 Feb

This is a collection still in its infancy — this show marks a year after the launch and he has come a long way. While in previous seasons, he has devotedly stuck by the ideals he created the collection in, with this one he branched out and it was a really lovely sight. There were no harsh angles in the entire collection, every piece fit the body beautifully and accentuated the feminine form. There was a lot of belting and two piece looks — few dresses, many skirts and tops/pants and tops. There were gorgeous metallic wrap skirts and a great instinct for color. My favorite look was an the all neutral look — with such monotonality, to make the model really stand out is a feat. And Krakoff really succeeds in this sense. You can see her character and it is beautiful despite the one dimensional color and cut. Lastly — the shoes were killer.
