Fall 2011 RTW: Calvin Klein Collection

17 Feb

With inspiration from a Teddy Bear, Francisco Costa created a truly unique line and one that was as elegant as it was comfortable. The colors were a different area of the neutral palette than we’ve seen before — less beige and more of a creamy what color, light gray’s and deep blacks. Costa said he avoided the “cute factor” that was inevitable from his inspiration and direction of the styles and kept it minimalist and simple, as is the aesthetic of the line. He played a lot with materials, as many have been doing this season, most notably was the last look I picked — the silver sheath dress that had a glisten to it. I also loved the two-piece shapeless suits in the teddy bear, wheat colored material. It completely embodied the Calvin Klein ideal, the inspiration and the trends of the season in one look. There weren’t any styles from that I would say are red-carpet definites, the emphasis was more on every-day investment looks rather than glamour.
