Fall 2011 RTW: Matthew Williamson

20 Feb

Today was an amazing day at London Fashion Week. The collections were bold and well done and all unique. The Williamson show takes the cake in my book though. This was beautiful and amazing and even the simplest pieces were just above and beyond perfect. The dresses and jackets were cute but what made my jaw drop were those leather wrap skirts — there’s the brown quilted one and the simple beige one. They’re beautiful. So simple, so elegant and just so inspiring. I saw the quilted leather one and literally started piecing outfit possibilities together, it’s that kind of skirt. The embellished dresses I also found to be absolutely stunning. The sequin, metallic one that fades into ostrich feathers was so absolutely unusual and something I’ve never seen done to quite this extreme before. The last dress reminded me of the Gucci embellished dresses from the Spring collection, except knit. A fabulous spin on an already done idea.
