Fall 2011 RTW: Burberry Prorsum

21 Feb

Christopher Bailey does it again. This was a much more traditionally Burberry collection than Spring’s was, and I liked it equally as well. There was an intense use of color, beautiful, beautiful colors. There were some really cool sleeves, which comprised some of my favorite aspects of the show. They were very bell sleeved but only for a small portion of the sleeve if that makes any sense. Like Topshop Unique’s Dalmatian theme, there was clearly a cow influence in some of the accessories and near the end of the collection. There were some Sherlock Holmes-ey tweed jackets, suits and hats which I thought were kind of fabulous. After out-doing himself with the dresses and looks for spring, the focus of this show was clearly outerwear. Burberry does outerwear so beautifully though how could anyone complain. This was really an amazing show and I loved it — watched it streamed live from the LFW website, can’t get any better than that!
