Fall 2011 RTW: Erdem

21 Feb

Talk about the ultimate romanticism collection with the designer, Erdem Moralioglu inspired by Jackson Pollack’s wife after watching the film “Pollack.” Knowing he was inspired by an aspect of this film really explains so much of the designs. The prints so represent Pollack’s unique style and these type of print literally creates the collection. While last summer, Erdem was more focused on the youthful aspect of femininity, for this season he focused on the intensity of womanhood. There were some really stand out pieces, the dresses at the end of the collection were literally breathtaking. I love how they were all working from the same idea but had such distinct styles. He combined silk and velvet of the same print a lot which created very unique outfits. I really loved this collection and was quite impressed by how different but equally fascinating it was to Spring’s beautiful collection.
