Fall 2011 RTW: Versace

26 Feb

I thought the past Versace collection was to die for — seriously. It was so beautiful and each look left me breathless. Mm.. This Versace collection left me confused. Each look seemed to overpower the model more than the previous. They were such heavy and restricting designs that I was astonished. There were many of the half collar style dresses that were so boxy and shapeless other than the restricting collar that I actually felt uncomfortable watching the looks. I guess after the intensity of last seasons prints and fringe and consuming colors it was time to tone it down — but it was just such a strange way to tone down. There were thick swirls on many of the looks and a lot of restricting jackets. Some leather dresses and cotton with leather embellishment. The final series of looks — the evening wear — was when it came back to the Versace I know and love. There was glamour, cut outs and fringe…They were intense yet so simple and beautiful. They were what saved this collection.
