Fall 2011 RTW: Mugler

3 Mar

Raise your hand if you haven’t heard something about the Mugler show yet? I know, it’s everywhere — especially for bloggers. I wasn’t even going to blog about it but I felt compelled too — under all of the glitz and glam of by far the most talked about runway debut was a really boring and horrible collection. All people are talking about are Gaga and the fact that she bought the entire collection in every color and the huge bang that this started. The clothes were kind of boring and not so fabulously put together. I know that it wasn’t my style but reviews of those whose style it is don’t seem to be that big of a fan either. There were fun aspects but as a collection not so hot. Without a doubt the biggest press and attention of any show so far — Dior will be the only rival.

  1. Fall 2011 RTW: Azzaro « Trends & Treats - March 6, 2011

[…] March 6, 2011 by trendsandtreats Leave a Comment To say that I am madly in love with this collection would be a complete understatement. May I preface this by saying — if you do not read my blog, you should know that I am madly in love with bows. And lace. They’re elegant and feminine and can be contrasted with anything successfully. Vanessa Seward created a collection to die for — at least to me. It was very simple and there was no huge epiphany halfway through the collection — but it didn’t need it. It was a simple collection and everything was just so elegant. With all the red carpet coverage Azzaro has been receiving recently from Natalie Portman to Rosamund Pike, I like that the brand kept true to their style and not focus on making more red carpet worthy dresses. There was utter simplicity and utter elegance throughout the collection. The way that the lace is so elegantly woven into where the seams should be on the floor length black dress is amazing and just a really unusual idea. The way they did ruffles and tiers reminded me a lot of Valentino — but it is impossible to do a collection of all new ideas unless you are looking at Maison Martin Margiela or Mugler. […]
