Resort 2012: Christian Dior

3 Jun

This was, without a doubt, the most anticipated Resort collection. Still without a designer, the house of Dior’s team put together a tasteful and elegant collection for Resort. The company has not suffered financially from Galliano’s missteps and seems to be thriving in a new way. While this is not the extravagant and opulant collection that we expected from Galliano, it stays true to the name while still playing it a bit safe. The palette was relatively neutral — aside from one or two dashes of bright color in glamorous dresses. While focusing on neutrals, no piece was boring. The bow woven into the dress is elegant and beautiful and the drop waisted white and black dresses is very Dior with the gold trim. Well done, well done. I think it’s safe to say that this relieved any worries about what the future of Dior may be.
