Spring/Summer 2012: BCBG Max Azria

10 Sep

I have mixed feelings about the BCBG show — that’s one of the reasons it has taken me so long to do any type of review on it actually. While BCBG was ahead of/right on the trends for Fall 2011, this show took it to an extreme that didn’t really work for me.

The color blocking and deconstructed, strewn all over the place sportswear in a very Wang-esque fashion. The tribal prints were new for BCBG but they were so over done last season that I’m really surprised to see them carry over to this one. The maxi dresses in the fall colors are pretty nice and some of the more sensible cut outs are really beautiful. Mostly, this show is just unimpressive. It’s an attempt to build on to the success of last season without any forward progression. It really does not do it for me, a rough start to fashion week my friends.
