Spring 2012: Carolina Herrera

12 Dec

Last spring, Herrera went “au naturale” and built the most beautiful floral based collection that was completely unique in that it was not based on florals but on seed packets. For the fall, Herrera went geometric and flowing. For this spring, she merged the two. Rather than floral, she went “au nourriture” — corn and cherries and birds were completely springy and beautiful. The geometric component came in with the gorgeous lines in both vertical and horizontal patterns. This was literally the most unusual collection for her. The coats were the most amazing thing I have seen. It felt very Native American inspired — a huge trend for this season, and the colors as well. I loved this collection, Herrera completely hit it out of the park
