Spring 2012: Jenny Packham

12 Dec

Thing with Jenny Packham is that while she has such feminine style — very Elie Saab or Monique Lhuillier in the consistent gorgeous and feminine evening gowns, yet they have a very small market. There’s something so elaborate and subtle about these pieces that they don’t really appeal to the everyday woman. I find the pieces to either be too much or not enough — for example the blue number is beautifully draped but lacking in any embellishment where the orange next to it and the white on the other side is just a little over the top in the glam. I speak for myself when I say that these dresses, while indubitably gorgeous, would never be my choice for any event. Surprisingly though, the last red number completely did it for me. The way that the red just fell in the easiest way with the simplest little ripples in the design — it was very Dior ss’11 in an understated way which I loved.
