So the rumor is that Raf Simons is stepping in for John Galliano at Dior…Valentino stepped up today and made a statement that he did not really think this was the perfect fit. I completely agree with this statement. Simons hasn’t really worked anywhere besides Jil Sander and therefore we have only seen one dimension of his design aptitude but I don’t think he really has the Dior in him. Jil Sander is all minimalism and color blocking while Dior is no holds barred creativity. They could not be more disparate. Taking the job at Dior also would come along with taking the Couture line which is even farther away from Simons’ skill.
